Born and raised in a small town in Taiwan, Li Hua Mahalik immigrated to the United States in her early twenties, raising a family and studying various disciplines like Engineering and Architecture and finally earning a degree in Painting from Arizona State University. Since then she studied under many renowned painters at the Scottsdale Artists School.
Having been painting impressionistic landscape, Still Life and Portraits, and as a foundation, Li is venturing into the unknown, the Abstract, a fascinating subject that has always been in the back of her mind. Although oil has always been her favorite medium, her new adventure brought her to the discovery of the new acrylic as an exciting media for Abstract painting.
As a painter, her goal is to paint beautiful and memorable paintings. Her Non-Representational Abstract work is often inspired by something that she sees outside and inside; the division and the placement of space or masses that challenges the norm.
Li lives in Scottsdale, Arizona with her husband, Mark.
